Parents with type 1 diabetes have lower mortality risk

Data presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting revealed parents with or without type 1 diabetes had a 50% lower rate of all-cause mortality than those who did not have children. Researchers also found that parents with more children had even lower death risk, and the effects were more pronounced in women with or without the disease. A greater motivation to maintain ideal glucose levels during pregnancy and after birth may be one reason why female diabetes patients have lower odds of dying, researchers added.
