Medtronic scientists develop artificial heart valve

Researchers and engineers at Medtronic are working on an artificial device designed to replace diseased heart valves of patients who are not qualified to undergo open-heart surgery. Medtronic thinks the worldwide market for synthetic heart valve, which can be implanted via a patient's femoral artery using a tube-and-wire catheter tool, could reach $3.5 billion.
