Texas site begins accepting Vt. radioactive waste

Vermont has started transferring low-level radioactive waste for storage at a site in West Texas nearly two decades after an agreement was reached between the two states. Entergy's Vermont Yankee facility started shipments this month. "We finally have a compact. It's real. It's open and we're shipping waste there. It's pretty amazing," said Sarah Hofmann, the Vermont Department of Public Service's deputy commissioner.
