USDA allows U.S. sales of Chinese-processed chicken

Food-safety advocates are concerned about a decision to allow chicken slaughtered in North America to be processed in China and sold in the U.S., despite incidents of food contamination at Chinese plants. The majority of chicken eaten in the U.S. will still be produced and processed by domestic plants, and poultry producers say they do not expect that to change. "Ninety-nine percent of the chicken we consume here is hatched, raised and processed in the U.S.," National Chicken Council spokesman Tom Super said.
