N.J. firm is perfecting building materials with embedded solar cells

The next generation of solar power may not rely on free-standing panels. New Jersey-based Applied Photovoltaics is gearing up to manufacture prefabricated building materials with embedded solar cells. Recently, Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J., stopped by the Hopewell Township plant for a look at the company's breakthrough.
