Government should consider Young's partial transportation solution

Freight railroads have invested heavily in their infrastructure and are an efficient way to move freight. As the government struggles to fund its highway infrastructure, editors at the Omaha World-Herald suggest it look to the railroads. If more goods were shipped by freight railroads, there would be fewer heavy trucks on the country's highways, and that would provide some relief for the nation's crumbling infrastructure, according to Jim Young, UP's chairman and CEO. "Wise government officials will take full advantage of that," the editors conclude.
