Analysts: Verizon's $22.9B FiOS project the right move

Verizon Communications' $22.9 billion network upgrade plan, which will save the company $4.9 billion over the next four years, is eliciting mainly favorable reactions from analysts. The FiOS project calls for Verizon, by 2010, to replace more than half of its copper network with fiber-optic cable to better support video and high-speed Internet service.
