Lawmaker says jetliners need anti-missile technology

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., this week sent a letter to the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security asking that they study technology that could protect commercial jetliners from terrorist attacks. In her letter, she wrote that reports of unaccounted-for missiles in Libya indicate that shoulder-fired missiles continue to present a risk to commercial planes. It would cost approximately $1 million to equip one jetliner with the technology.
