China's Taobao tests new online shopping search engine

Taobao.com, the biggest online retailer in China, is poised to bolster its position as it works on a new search engine. Analysts said the launch of etao, as the search engine is called, will cause Taobao's visitor numbers to surge. The move will also put Taobao in direct competition with Baidu, the Chinese search engine that dominates the market.
