U.N.: Mobile devices bring more people into the broadband fold

Mobile adoption is surging, with some of the world's least-developed nations driving the trend, according to a U.N. report that says that by year's end, worldwide mobile subscriptions will surpass fixed-line connections by nearly 300%. "The marriage of mobile with modern-day Internet via mobile broadband is opening up new vistas of opportunity -- mobile broadband may well 'bridge the gap' between the connected and the unconnected," said the report from the U.N. Broadband Commission.
