EPA, developer agree to clean up old chemical-plant site

The Environmental Protection Agency has reached an agreement with SWH Investments II to clean up the site of the former Solutia chemical plant in St. Louis and develop it into an office and industrial complex. The company pledged $2.6 million to clean up the site and remove traces of polychlorinated biphenyls, trichloroethene and other contaminants from the soil and groundwater.
