Kraft's new autonomy pays off down under

Irene Rosenfeld has fought to make Kraft a less centralized company since she became CEO, by empowering lower-level managers and giving the company's units more say over their operating budgets. Recently the company's Australian managers launched a reformulated version of Vegemite, the company's signature product in that part of the world. The launch is a hit so far, moving 2 million units in just two months with only scant involvement from Rosenfeld.
