SBA loan volume off 36%, dollar volume down 27%

The government's leading small-business lending program helped 25,000 fewer entrepreneurs this year than last year. The loan volume in the Small Business Administration's 7(a) loan program is down 36%, and the dollar volume is down 27%. With half of the country's workforce employed by a small business, supporting the sector is a "major priority" for the administration, said SBA spokesman Jonathan Swain.
