S.D. Board of Education allows district control of teacher evaluations

South Dakota's state board of education on Tuesday voted to allow districts to use state or local standards to evaluate teachers. However, schools choosing to use their own standards for the 2014-15 school year must have their program approved by the state secretary of education. "I think it is important to allow districts to have that flexibility," state board President Don Kirkegaard said.
