Americans say they want healthier food options at restaurants, but few people order these types of items, instead favoring more high-calorie, high-fat choices. Some restaurants and chains have embraced the mixed messages and offer lighter menu items, but the healthier fare tends to be a small proportion of revenue. "We have wonderful, healthy foods if people want to buy them. But they don't sell particularly well," said Andy Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants, which runs the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. fast-food chains.
