More states adopt Medicaid managed care, survey finds

A survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Management Associates revealed that half of Medicaid beneficiaries in 2010 were enrolled in a managed care plan, while 16% were in a primary care case management program and 34% were in Medicaid fee-for-service. Researchers also found that 47 states had managed care programs, 36 had contracts with private Medicaid managed care plans and 31 had primary care case management programs.
