Verizon goes head-to-head with Amazon in cloud strategy

Verizon says its new cloud infrastructure, Verizon Cloud, is built for big enterprises that embrace public shared services and want top-notch control over performance, a capability due to technology from Terremark, which Verizon bought two years ago. The offering differs from Amazon and other services as it provides greater flexibility with virtual machine and network use and eliminates latency issues, Verizon says.
