Labor Department launches grant program to train workers

Federal grants will be given to 36 private-public partnerships serving 20 states and the District of Columbia to help train U.S. workers for jobs in industries such as advanced manufacturing, energy, health care and information technology. The funding will come from the fees employers pay to bring foreign temporary workers into the U.S. It's part of a $160 million grant program by the Labor Department aimed at cutting the companies' reliance on foreign workers to fill some highly skilled jobs.
