Susan Lyne, the 61-year-old chairman of Gilt Groupe, built her career on an ability to adapt to new environments and new industries at the drop of a hat. The former hippie was a magazine editor, an AOL board member, an ABC programming executive and CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia before arriving at Gilt. "I've taken a leap of faith on several occasions," she says. "And in every case, on some level, I've become a beginner again."
