Microsoft eyes deals that would place Windows alongside Android

Microsoft has reportedly stepped up its efforts to secure new smartphone partners by talking to HTC about providing its Windows Phone software at a nominal cost in a move that would give HTC phone owners an alternative to Google's Android platform. In what were described as preliminary talks, Microsoft operating systems chief Terry Myerson was said to have proposed placing Windows side by side with Android on HTC devices.
