California furloughs are cleared by the state's high court

An order by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to furlough more than 200,000 state workers for several days each year to save money has been upheld by that state's Supreme Court. The action, which has meant about a 14% pay cut for employees, has prompted more than two dozen lawsuits.
