Ky. lawmaker wants to make hemp-based ethanol a reality

Kentucky Sen. Joey Pendleton is advocating the lifting of a ban on industrial hemp production. One benefit, Pendleton said, is that industrial hemp is an alternative to corn for ethanol production. Hemp outperforms corn as a feedstock for ethanol on a per-acre basis, added Pendleton, and it requires no pesticides, enriches the topsoil and yields two harvests per year.
