GM shifts media shops for regional dealers

In what appears to be a cost-cutting move, General Motors Corp. is said to be shifting its regional dealer media business from Publicis Groupe's Starcom Mediavest Group to sibling agency Martin Retail Group, Birmingham, Ala., and Interpublic Group's Velocity, a unit of Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich. The former shop already reps Buick-Pontiac-GMC's regional dealer creative, while Velocity handles most of Chevrolet's regional dealer ad group account.
