TSMC exec: Foundry will push ahead with new process technology

Despite the weakening economic conditions in the worldwide semiconductor industry, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. will proceed with the implementation and testing of leading-edge process technology, according to Maria Marced, president of TSMC Europe. Speaking at the International Electronics Forum in Seville, Spain, Marced said the world's largest silicon foundry plans to put 20-nanometer process technology in "risk production" during the third quarter of next year.
