EPA to initiate safety review of weed-killing chemical

The Environmental Protection Agency is planning to review the health risks posed by atrazine after recent studies linked the chemical with birth defects and reproductive problems even at levels acceptable under federal standards. Atrazine is a herbicide used on home lawns, corn fields and golf courses and is among the most common contaminants of the country's drinking water.
