Miramax CEO: Consumers want to own movies

While much attention is focused on new avenues of movie rentals and video on demand, many consumers are still interested in owning movies, particularly high-quality and popular releases, according to Michael Lang, chief executive of Miramax. The ownership prerogative helps spur purchases of DVDs and Blu-ray discs even when many alternatives exist for streaming content and digitally storing movies, he added.
