Kantar Media is creating a set-top-based TV ratings service that will compete with industry metrics leader Nielsen and Rentrak, another set-top-based service. Kantar Media Audience Advisor will cull data from more than 1 million set-top boxes to offer information on what programs and ads consumers are watching, and using demographic statistics from third-party vendors, will also provide research on demographics and shopping activities.
