Spending on DTC drug ads inches up

Direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs was 1.2% higher in the first half of 2013 than over the same period last year, according to data from Kantar Media. Spending on television and Internet ads rose, spending on magazine ads was flat, and spending on newspaper, radio and billboard ads dropped. DTC advertising for health care services is likely to rise as employers continue to transfer more costs to employees, an expert says.
