Pennsylvania inmate can decline blood transfusion, judge rules

In Pennsylvania, a judge ruled in favor of a seriously ill inmate at the Laurel Highlands state prison who declined to go through a blood transfusion, against the order of his doctor, because the procedure is against his religious beliefs. The judge said that the state must respect the inmate's wishes according to the provisions of the First Amendment.
