Rachel Weeks started the clothing company School House, which focuses on fashionable collegiate apparel that is socially responsible. She used $20,000 from an accident in which she was involved to start operations in Sri Lanka after she moved there to study the fashion industry. Starting with Weeks' alma mater, Duke University, the line has expanded to 100 schools, and she now runs the company from North Carolina. "That was important to me being from North Carolina and being someone who witnessed so much unemployment and poverty in my home state," she said.
