Va. businesses push back on county's sign restrictions

Officials in Albemarle County, Va., turned down a request by the owners of Sultan Kebab to install a lighted cabinet sign to raise the profile of the restaurant, saying the sign didn't line up with the shopping center's standards. "We wanted to upgrade our signage because our main issue is that we have really good reviews on the Internet and in the public, but people are really having a hard time finding us here," said co-owner Deniz Dikmen, who hopes to craft a compromise similar to one offered to neighboring business PJ Networks.
