Jaczko: NRC will help TVA increase safety of Ala. nuclear plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will help the Tennessee Valley Authority strengthen safety measures at its Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Alabama, according to NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko. The plant got a "red" rating from the NRC in May after inspectors found serious deficiencies involving a reactor-core cooling valve. "One of the things I was looking for as I went through the [Browns Ferry] plant was the condition of equipment," Jaczko said.
