Study: M&A action in energy sector has topped 2010 total

Lux Research reports that the value of merger-and-acquisition transactions involving smart grid, electric vehicle and energy-storage companies during the first half of 2011 was $2.42 billion, double the $1.2 billion total for all of 2010. Buyouts came as venture capitalists invested less money in those market segments, the firm said.
