Study ties complications to increased stroke risk in type 1 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes patients with both retinopathy and nephropathy were more than six times as likely to suffer stroke, with the risk increasing as both conditions progress, a study found. Early diagnosis of and intervention for the conditions may help stem stroke risk in such patients, researchers wrote in Diabetes Care.
