San Diego group proposes hotel surcharge to market tourism

The San Diego Lodging Industry Association is proposing a 2% surcharge on hotel bills in an effort to improve tourism marketing for the city. The funds would help establish a tourism improvement district that would work much like business improvement districts by collecting money from hotels to market the city to potential visitors.
