Digital product labels hold promise for merchants

Dutch vodka company Medea has released its newest beverage in bottles that bear digital labels that buyers can program with personalized messages. Though the six-step programming process and brief message space might limit the possibilities on this early example, future versions of programmable packaging hold promise for retailers looking to get innovative with digital displays, tech columnist Evan Schuman writes.
