$3.6B bridge proposal gets tepid support in Michigan state Senate

Ten thousand construction jobs could be created if Michigan approves the building of a bridge over the Detroit River to connect Detroit and Windsor, Ontario. The $3.6 billion project would be privately funded, but critics of the proposal aren't convinced that taxpayers would not shoulder some of the costs. The state Senate's Economic Development Committee will meet today but is unlikely to take a vote on the project given tepid Senate support.
