Dermatologist discusses the food-skin link

What a person eats shows in skin tone and firmness, says dermatologist Jessica Wu, author of the book "Feed Your Face." Protein helps build collagen and improve the skin's elasticity; foods high in amino acids, such as lamb, chicken and beef, as well as green and yellow vegetables, can help stave off wrinkles, she says. Wu suggests avoiding sugar and foods that the body easily converts to sugar, such as white rice, because sugar "eats up the collagen in your skin" and is linked to acne.
