Publishers turning to e-books to supplement pay-wall revenues

A scramble by the world's publishers to generate digital revenues from their print and online content is prompting some to experiment with an increasingly popular alternative to the pay wall -- the dedicated e-book. The New Yorker, Conde Nast and investigative journalism site ProPublica are among the early pioneers of the model, which includes bundling specialized content -- ranging from book reviews to story collections -- into marketable feature packages for hand-held devices.
