Study: Screening tool for hepatitis C effective

A study involving 1,000 randomly selected patients showed the effectiveness of a screening tool in identifying patients who are at a high risk of hepatitis C infection. The patients were asked to complete a questionnaire evaluating five risk factors of HCV and to undergo HCV antibody testing. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors associated with HCV antibodies. "Future studies should assess whether wider use of this tool may lead to improved outcomes," the study authors said.
