CFTC examines trading algorithms and defends "flash crash" report

Bob Pease, enforcement attorney at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the regulator is looking into the use of computerized trading programs and "quote stuffing" in the wake of the May 6 "flash crash." The CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission recently released a joint report on the market plunge. Market observers immediately attacked the regulators' findings, which are being defended by the agencies.
