CDS on U.S. banks suggest deeper concerns about Europe

Prices on short-term credit default swaps on the debt of U.S. banks surged recently, indicating that investors are increasingly concerned about Europe's sovereign-debt crisis, Barclays Capital strategists said. The price of near-term CDS on U.S. financial firms has exceeded the cost of longer-term coverage.
