The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission has given Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. until June 30, 2014, to complete a long-tern plan for its NRU reactor. The plan is expected to detail how and when the reactor will be closed or how it will continue to operate after its anticipated new license expires in 2016. The agency is expected to lay down other conditions relating to the reactor's new five-year operating license.
