HIT panel pitches more flexible secondary EHR data use policies

The HIT Policy Committee has released its proposals to loosen requirements for the secondary use of data gleaned from EHRs. The panel suggested eliminating patient consent and other requirements to authorize the use of EHR information for therapy purposes or for reviewing the quality, safety and efficacy of prevention and treatment measures, among other recommendations.
