N.D. warns districts about effects of shutdown on meal funding

The Nebraska Department of Education has informed schools it lacks the funding to pay for free and reduced-price meals served in October and could be unable to reimburse schools indefinitely if the federal government shutdown is not resolved. This presents some challenges for school districts charged with serving meals to students -- some of whom may not have access to food outside of school.
