Smaller packaged portions offer snackers more choice

The confectionery industry, along with others in the packaged foods and restaurant industry, are increasingly offering smaller packaged portions for consumers who want to snack. Mars said it will phase out "king size" candy bars in favor of packages that can be divided into smaller sizes. A confectioners industry group spokeswoman said, "I think for the last few years the emphasis on candy has been its role as a snack," with the trend toward resealable containers and smaller portion options growing.
