Panel issues report on EAS-CAP guidelines

An FCC panel has issued more than 30 recommendations to improve EAS using the Common Alerting Protocol. Among their suggested guidelines are to lengthen the 180-day clock to one year; review whether to accept the EAS-CAP industry group recommendations; and to further explain the implementation of "Governor Must Carry" messages. The advisory group was chaired by Pat Roberts, head of the Florida Association of Broadcasters, and co-chaired by Damon Penn of FEMA.
