Biopolymers event highlights renewable nano, bio-based products

Nanocrystalline cellulose, the first renewables-based nanomaterial, demonstrates how research-and-development funding is driving innovation in bioplastic polymers, writes Tony Deligio. The material was showcased during the 2011 Biopolymers Symposium, which also featured bio-based developments such as compostable adhesives, new polylactic acid blends and 100% bio-based polyesters.
