How to create a literary-rich school environment

Middle-grades teacher Heather Wolpert-Gawron suggests in this blog post that teachers can spark a passion for reading among students by highlighting student literature projects throughout the school hallways. Wolpert-Gawron suggests a number of project ideas, from having students create movie posters and trailers for their favorite books to having students paint stairs depicting the spines of the top books -- chosen in a schoolwide poll -- to be read before leaving middle school.
