Ore. district adopts standards-based IEPs

The Hillsboro School District in Oregon is adjusting its individualized education programs to align with Common Core State Standards. The district has been transitioning to standards-based IEPs, which connect student learning to general-education standards, for the past two years. Officials say the IEPs will set higher goals for students, contribute to more inclusion and increase special-education graduation rates.
